Polypropylene (pp), like polyethylene (pe), is a typical polyolefin polymer. Polypropylene and polyethylene have many similarities, such as non-toxic, odorless, tasteless, and reliable health performance; Acid, alkali, salt and a variety of chemical substances, stable performance; Balance of physical and mechanical properties; Good moisture resistance, moisture resistance, oxygen resistance and oil resistance; It has excellent formability and good heat sealing property. Like polyethylene, polypropylene also has the advantages of large production, wide sources and low price.
The main differences between polypropylene and polyethylene are as follows:
① The heat resistance of polypropylene is much better than that of polyethylene, and it can withstand the high temperature above 120 ℃. The food packaged with polypropylene film can even withstand the requirement of cooking at high temperature above 140 ℃.
② The transparency and strength of polypropylene are also better than that of polyethylene. Although the oil resistance of polypropylene is not ideal, it is better than polyethylene.
③ Compared with polyethylene plastics, the main disadvantage of polypropylene is its poor cold resistance. Polypropylene homopolymer may show obvious brittleness at 0 ℃.
